Tribu is a sextet that is following in the Latin Jazz traditions of Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria and Machito. Lead by pianist and composer Steve McQuarry, they have released an album titled, El Matador. The album presents twelve original compositions that are inspired by the world music sounds of: Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz with a unification of an American jazz essence. The band members are: Steve McQuarry (piano & leader), Marcus Lopez (bass), Ruben Salcido(saxophone), Dave Casini (vibraphone & drums), Mario Salomon (drums, timbales and percussion) and Jesus Gonzalez (congas). Together the band delivers a relaxing, but energetic set all pinned by the Latin jazz genres. That’s the short of it!
