Kristel Review 2

KRISTEL is a pop- rock band from Madagascar that is made up of the talented Christelle Ratri on vocals and bass, Ben Kheli on guitar and Andry Sylvano on drums. As a frontwoman Ratri’s vocals are remarkable, her vocal range and control is versatile and buoyant with a hint of tropical touches, it adds a layer of polish to the music. Social themes fill the music, with this generation thoughts and emotion for mapping out their future and the future of their nation. The bands self-titled EP, Kristel features a five-track line-up that has a variety of feels and is an upbeat collection that showcases Ratri’s amazing vocals and unique approach, that will expand the pop/rock genre. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Strong and focused singing. A nice mixture of world textures and beats augmenting the pop/rock feels and stylings.

Bottom Line:

Kristel’s self-titled album is a journey in exotic pop/rock. Not only does the band turn in rhythmically engaging feels, they also offer interesting song forms, but it is Ratri’s passionate vocal skills that are the highlight on this offering. Even though the lyrics are not sung in English, the music still universally conveys the power and intent of the meaning of each track. It’s the sum of the parts that makes this album such a delight. An enticing collection of impassioned tunes all performed by outstanding musicians and fronted by a immeasurable vocalist is why this a highly recommended listen.
