Dudi Kalish is an Israeli Hasidic singer and music producer that has been releasing remakes of popular Israeli and American songs in Hasidic Yiddish as well as his own original compositions for years. Kalish’s lyrics are Kosher reincarnations of pop hits, as well as his own music, filled with words of spiritual encouragement. The music video for the song “Bas-Kol” was created to promote the song in the Hasidic community but became a sensation outside of its targeted niche and went viral. Kalish has released a new album titled, Zug Shoin Ven. The music continues to highlight the singer’s contemporary Hasidic musical abilities and his excellent singing. Kalish produced the album and it marks the first time he has released an album that features his composing and arranging and unique voice exclusively. His sons, Shmili and Moishy join him on the album, both are also first-rate singers and the music created is very enjoyable to listen to, giving us a new world music perspective. Listen and feed the spirit, that’s the short of it!
Positives:
Unique singing and composing. Kalish’s voice has a wide range, is full and he uses interesting embellishments within his phrases. The vocal harmonization’s are well done. The set of music is well-paced and up-lifting.
