We reviewed Wilder Woods single “Someday Soon Review” on May 1, 2019 (Read Review HERE).  AT that time the frontman’s identity was an unknown variable. Now revealed in the video for the newest single “Sure Ain’t,” known to many as front man Bear Rinehart, Wilder Woods’ reveals his identity in the new video for “Sure Ain’t,” directed by Gus Black (Phoebe Bridgers, Lennon Stella, Gary Clark Jr).   “Sure Ain’t” is the latest installment in a series of Wilder Woods visuals with recurring characters and a narrative through line exploring the tensions an artist feels between his home and the stage, and the collateral damage that results. Rinehart’s wife, Mary Reames Rinehart, also appears in the video as his ongoing muse.

Positives:

Filled with infectious grooves and modern-pop sensibilities “Sure Ain’t,” is filled with themes of self-discovery.

Bottom Line:

Wilder Woods is a new chapter in Bear Rinehart’s fairytale career. His new project namesake is derived from his two sons names Wilder and Woods, the true inspiration behind is adventurous new leap of faith. Rinehart explains “I felt like they were growing up at light speed. I wanted to stop time, if only for a moment, and write this music as a letter to them. I wanted to show them that at this point in my life, I wasn’t afraid to step into the unknown.” Rinehart serves up that southern gospel infused soul that has its birthplace in the red clay. Growing up in Greenville, SC. Rinehart understands the value of classic soul and R&B. His honesty of lyric and soulful voice hit all the right spots. That’s the short of it!
