Clearly no one knows who Wilder Woods is, but more is promised to be revealed in the availing mysterious days to come. “There are two distinct sides to this music,” he says. “There’s the Wilder side, which is all about love and flirtation and desire; and the Woods side, which is more serious and reflective. We all contain multitudes, and you have to recognize and honor all the different parts of yourself if you ever want to feel whole.” Set for later this  year a full album is planned on Atlantic Records.  Until then, two singles are ready for consumption, “Sure Ain’t” and “Someday Soon.”

Positives:

Woods has an angst filled voice that resonates with assured bliss. His masculine swagger only helps to solidify his bold artistic lyricism.

Bottom Line:

Woods exhibits two contrastingly different hues on “Sure Ain’t” which conjures a soulful funk-based feel with an unabashed ballad “Someday Soon,” that offers a heartfelt reading of self-doubt and its internalized struggle. Woods has a full-fledged voice, that reaches deeply on the low notes to rattle your bones and stir your soul, while still offering a soulful rock based southern tinge that resonates with an East Nashville vibe. “This music represents something totally fresh and new for me,” explains Woods. “I’ve heard that wisdom comes from love and experience, but I don’t think you can understand either one unless you’re willing to take a chance and dive headfirst into the unknown.” What is exceedingly clear is, the latter part of the year will reveal a solid album in the making. Woods has a mystic about his persona and his music that will linger long past the listen. That’s the short of it!
