Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand Tablefox is an Alt-rock band that has steadily been building their discography, which includes: Objects (2015), Glasshouses (2017), You And I Will Find A Way (2017), in the spring of 2018 the band released the single “Under a Broken Smile,” with great success. Their tour schedule has been relentless, with 12 months straight of being on the road, including a tour of Australia & NZ, with the likes of The Charlatans, Big Country, The Feelers and City Calm Down. Tablefox is releasing their new single “Like a River.” That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Like A River has a clear song form and melody to match.
Bottom Line:
Singer Clinton Bell wrote “Like a River,” as an inner voice dialogue that often penetrates his mind with long hours on the road, and like all of us – when doubt can creep in. This is the first recording featuring the new lineup with Olive Kotze on bass and Arie Harris on drums. "Like A River" has large jangling guitars and a power chorus reminiscent of great songs of the 80s, it is filled with encouragement and positive reminders that when it gets too touch, flow like a river and let the worry fall off you back. Bell has a vocal style that harkens Bono, and the supporting writing style supports that same notion. A bit of vintage panache with a modern take. Who says style never repeats itself.
