The Elovay is an indie surf-rock quartet that is all about fun. Putting that gorgeous West Coast sunshine into every nuance of their music. The band is Xavier Brinkman (vocals, guitar); Justin Salmons (guitar); David Pinder (drums); and Alyssa Robertson (bass). The band finds their musical inspiration from bands such as: The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Black Keys, and Queens of the Stone Age.  The Los Angeles-based band folds in just enough surf, combined with a 90s sound and sense of melody. They are back with a new EP titled, Sort It Out. The band teamed up with Grammy nominated producer Billy Mohler (Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Awolnation, Macy Gray, Liz Phair) to record the five track EP at his studio in Venice Beach. With catchy beats and crunchy guitars that provide a setting for Brinkman’s distinctive vocals. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Fun music that with have you singing every note of these catchy melodies in no time!

Bottom Line:

Sort It Out, offers five well-constructed tunes that have Brinkman’s voice in an easy to hear setting. Each track has its own personality, but The Elovay’s are great at crafting melodies that stick with you. With dual guitar, the band has a full and varied sound. Salmons lead playing is melodic and always supports the song. Pinder and Robertson form the rock-solid back bone for each song structure. The Elovay pulls from pop by creating melodies that are memorable, but still have a raw and energetic vibe that make the songs memorable. Sort It Out certainly falls into the memorable category, it will linger long past the listen.
