Connect with Mount Hudson: Facebook
Mount Hudson is an indie-folk-Americana band based out of Brooklyn, NY. It is the main songwriting vehicle for Dave Yim. Melodious acoustic guitar, slide guitar, upright bass, banjo, and fiddle open a welcoming sound that leaves you instantly feeling you been here before. In 2015 the band release an EP titled Sad & Silly, that featured strong songwriting and solid performances. Now in 2018, their single “Write A Book,” released on December 1, 2018 harkens back to The Band, and their tune “The Weight.” That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Yim has a likable and memorable voice that instantly connects you to his lyrics. His songwriting harkens to the era of Robbie Robertson.
Bottom Line:
The chorus offers a strong hook, with lyrics that are instantly relatable with a melody that sings. Yim writes in a manner that enshrines an era that offered timeless songwriting styles. Yim’s and Oh’s vocals have a nice blend and the band is solid, with song form that develops nicely. His grasp of lyrics that connect the listener to the essence of his stories is well-beyond his years. Coupled with a warm and organic voice, he offers a comfortable and compelling songwriting style.
