Michigan Rattlers, Evergreen Review 2

Michigan Rattlers is an Americana band made up of lifelong friends and deep-north natives. The Michigan Rattlers are: Graham Young (guitar and vocals), Adam Reed (upright bass and vocals), and Christian Wilder (piano). The three began writing music and performing together in their Northern Michigan high school and have been crafting their countrified rock ‘n’ roll, mixed with folk sensibilities ever since.  Fast forward, the Michigan Rattlers are releasing their debut album titled, Evergreen. With eleven tracks of outstanding songwriting and Young’s strong lead vocals, Evergreen will certainly perk the ears of music lovers. Young, Reed and Wilder have a nice blend of vocal harmonies and the album is filled out with drums and other instruments like pedal steel, which gives it its county hue. The music speaks from the heart and sits easy on the ears. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

The songwriting and lyrics are preeminent. Add the chemistry between the three members and you have something very special. Young’s vocals have a classic mix of rock & roll, with a country slant that will impress.

Bottom Line:

Michigan Rattlers’ debut album Evergreen, spins out wonderful lyrics and the certified song-craft through these eleven tracks spin a sound that is uniquely folksy rock-n-roll with a country sensitivity. The tunes are subtle and varied and comes as an intensely quenching and relieving swig of cool water. Evergreen is an album that proves great songwriting and band chemistry will always be Evergreen in feeding the need. We all still crave popular music that has soul and sincerity. Well done guys!
