Brass House Unit, Limelight Review 1

With a sound that combines soul and R&B from the 60s with the funk of today; the name certainly suits the vibe, we are talking about, Brass House Unit. BHU brings a hip musical experience that is brought to life by a talented sixteen-piece band and sizzling male and female vocalists; Ozzy Lino and Gloriana. The band was formed by Kevin Abela in 2014 and has since mastered the perfect mixture of soul, pop and funk. Brass House Unit has officially released their first single, titled “Limelight,” as well a music video featuring the band, from their up-coming album to be released early next year. With an excellent horn section, rock solid rhythm section and two energetic front singers, Brass House Unit is going to make you move, that’s the short of it!

Positives:

“Limelight” is a well-written tune with fun lyrics that keeps the party going all night lone with a dance-able beat, crack shot-horn lines, two lead singers and a form that has multiple sections. Hot stuff!

Bottom Line:

Music has the power to energize and Brass House Unit will do just that with their sixteen-member band. “Limelight” is energetic with a unique blend of pop, soul and funk. The song has elements of today’s music with a hip thematically spoken section that reflects current trends, combined with top-shelf singing, the band is soulful and lays down that hip funky sound with panache. The single is a sneak peek at what sounds to be an excellent album in the making, can’t wait to hear it!
