Kashmere, Gravity Review

Kashmere was formed by Joey Newey (vocals/guitar) and Andy Law (drums) as well as Charlie Cole (lead guitar) and bassist Freddie Hughes. Since forming in the Stockport a suburb of Poynton back in 2015, Kashmere has been presenting their brand of synth pop and indie rock. Their debut single in 2016 “Blow Your Mind,” catapulted the four piece group into the public eye. Their next single “Codeine,” in 2018 further cemented the groups success with a rapid fire of “Anaesthesia,” in October of 2018. Now in 2019, their latest single “Gravity,” released on February 15, 2019 with great anticipation and response.
Positives:
Heavy beats and solid synths with swirling and ethereal vocals that settle nicely in your earbud.
Bottom Line:
Unlike Kashmere’s previous singles “Codeine” and “Anaesthesia,” their latest single “Gravity,” offers a provocative, and elusive sound that projects beaming electronic textures with a sci-fi edge of laser like swirls to what’s an otherwise effortlessly slick single. “Gravity,” has a vintage sound to it that explores more of a psychedelic rock vibe. Combing the dramatic soundscapes of Pink Floyd with the sexuality of David Bowie and the album alternative sound of the 60s. That’s the short of it!
