Fozzy Review: Judas 2

Fozzy continues their climb up the rock/metal ladder with their second release on Century Media Records titled, Judas. This is the bands seventh album, as they continue to master their sound and songwriting process. First and foremost, they still rock and have a heavy sound, that exhibits much is still the same and much is as strong as ever. Billy Grey and Rich Ward make an awesome wall of guitar sound together. Furthermore, Ward’s lead playing is melodic and a big part of the band’s sound.  Chris Jericho’s front man persona is perfect for Fozzy. His vocals are evolving as well, just listen to the colors he is able to achieve throughout his vocal range and the energy and attitude that is behind each note. Another strong point of Fozzy is the vocal harmonies; in tune and creative. The short of it is, they ROCK!

Positives:

It is obvious that Fozzy takes songwriting, production and their imagery seriously. The band always finds a heavy hook of the highest caliber and then unleashes Jericho’s voice.

Negatives:

“Three Days in Jail” goes down the nu-metal rabbit hole with a couple of rap verses delivered in a LINKIN PARK style.

Bottom Line:

Fozzy get the fact that those of use that want to rock - want attitude and weight in our guitar riffs, vocals, and for God’s sake, guitar solos! Taking nu-metal in a good direction, a solid hunk of metal to beat the ears with, though probably not the head.
