The first single off the album is “Island,” Kahn describes it as “a daydream of letting everything go and disappearing off the grid.” The turning point song that would end up being the inspiration behind the entire album. Kahn explains “I think as women we are often made to feel like we should be in competition with each other, something I’ve always felt in the music industry; I wrote “Island” about that feeling of isolation that comes with worrying that you may never be special enough.” Kahn’s voice resonates with a purity, and her lyrics tell a truth that is deepened by her honesty. “Island,” is a perfectly poised calling card to a songwriter on her path to greatness.
