Crosstown Chameleons is a band from Miami Florida that has rock sound that is a sophisticated twist on sounds inspired from the inspiration of England in the seventies and California during the surfer band pinnacle. The band is Gabe Stivala, Will Montgomery, Rob Kayes, Bill Scherer, Jon Williams, and Char Gregg. The band is releasing their next album titled, Plato’s Stepchildren. Twelve tracks adorn the album, eleven recorded in the studio and one live track, Crosstown Chameleons cover a wide range of styles and feels. With a slightly raw sound, the band is rich in guitars (both acoustic and electric), solid lead singing and vocal harmonies and song forms the are interesting while still engaging the listener’s attention. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Excellent blend of rock music, with a dose of Southern Rock, that highlights beautiful playing and creative melodies.

Bottom Line:

Crosstown Chameleons offer a highly musical sound, solid melodies and memorable lyrics. The band has a great chemistry. Tunes like “Summer” has a floating 70s sound, of good feelings and summer vibes. While “Blackjack” injects a bluesy rock vibe that has a hook-oriented melody. The ending track “Mirage,” is a live cut and bids the listener and chance to hear the band churn out solid performances. A solid listen throughout with rock-solid vocals and swirling guitars that lay the hammer down. Worth the price of admission, get you some.
