Positives:
Byrd has a voice that appeals to a wide audience, it is warm, focused and he sings in a manner that conveys emotion through the lyrics.
Bottom Line:
Byrd is a musical artist that is always searching and striving for new sounds. The leading track from Phases finds him singing to a relaxed rock beat. The lyrics are well-written and speak to the emotions of euphoria and life’s fleeting highs that we all need to cherish. With a solid rock beat and strumming acoustic guitar, Byrd brings us the story-line. The chorus is big and memorable with a form that has various feels and a solid structure. Byrd’s vocal range is well represented on the track, his lower register is full, and his falsetto is clear and focused. Overall, Byrd is a universal artist that sings to subjects that we all can relate to and his style is easy going with depth of substance and melody. That’s the short of it!
