Nightseason is a duet that exemplifier the possibilities of our modern world. Drummer-turned-producer Patrick Zeinali had a vision of the voice he wanted for his new project. Well one thing leads to another and soon he is surfing Spotify playlist in search of the name and face that match the sound he hears in his head. The match was complete when he heard the howling, raw vocals of Jordan Caiola from indie rock band Mo Lowda and the Humble. He reached out and soon found that they both had just recently been through rough breakups and that was the catalyst that started the reaction to the duets first five tracked EP called Coasts. For the final leadup to Friday December, 14 release of Coasts, Nightseason is releasing their fourth single from the EP titled, “Wear The Treads Off.” One would never know that the two members have never met, instead they have used technology to create this project and writing and communicating about the project exclusively by email. The result is a modern mix of electronic, pop and indie rock that has a sound and vibe that is compelling and heartfelt.

Positives:

“Wear The Treads Off” has lyrics that everyone can relate to and the music is atmospheric with just enough drive to keep you interested.

Bottom Line:

The duet Nightseason describes themselves as fitting in a groove between Sir Sly and Alt-J. The duo is creating an outside -of-the-box approach and sound while creating together from inside the box of email. That might sound a little sterile, but when charged with emotions of burned love, the passion drips in and is conveyed outward. “Wear The Treads Off” is not a track with thick sounds of productions and pulsating beats, instead it builds it shape in subtle passages over a steady pulse. The songwriting is solid, with a form that has space, activity and surprises. The production is perfect for the songs meaning and Caiola’s vocals are passionate. The doubling of the singing is a standout and adds to the thickness and impact of the tune. Get ready for Coasts, but until then, “Wear The Treads Off.” That’s the short of it!
