The Great Escape is a three-piece band from Venice, CA, comprised of Kristian Nord: drums, bass, production; Malte Hagemeister: guitars, production and Ingrid Andersson: vocals. The band’s second full-length “Universe In Bloom,” released in 2017, saw them take the raw energy and stomping confidence of their self-titled debut to the next level with memorable hooks and catchy tunes. They are currently working on their third full-length, forthcoming in 2019. The trio’s latest single “All You Got Is Gold” is prominently featured in the first season of the popular Netflix show “The Haunting Of Hill House,” and has already gained a huge momentum internationally: Popping up on various alternative charts from Chile to Hong Hong to the US top-200. With the holiday season upon us, the group has put together a solid holiday tune for all to enjoy titled “Season of Love.”
Positives:
A soul-based approach, that has a reminiscence of the older albums by the Supremes’ put out in the 60s. Solid performances and cinnamon kisses all around.
Bottom Line:
Roll that tape, its time for a throw back holiday sound, that will warm your cockles and shimmer your step. The Great Escape has done it once again. A hip vibe with a vintage Christmas video montage that sums up the “Season of Love,” with a soundtrack of jingle bells, traditional brass instrumentation and happy lyrics that take away the winter sting. The group has a knack for the creative flair and their holiday single certainly hits the spot. Break out the cocoa and dance around the house until your spirit lifts, it’s time for the “Season of Love.” That's the short of it!
