Konai Adelphe is a Gospel Music Group who hails from Knoxville, Tennessee. Their glistening sound is a mixture of traditional and non-traditional gospel music, amalgamated with old school R&B, neo-soul, jazz, blues, rap, reggae, contemporary music, adorned with a smidge of country. That might sound like a mouthful, but the sound is enlightened. The group released their first self-titled EP in 2016. Then in April of 2018, they released their sophomore effort EveryBody. A sophisticated contemporary gospel album that shimmers. That’s the short of It!
Positives:
Contemporary grooves and slinky production and seriously well-oiled vocals, by a group of ladies that can serve of soulful helpings of mighty voices and tightly woven harmonies.
Bottom Line:
The tunes are reminiscent of hit pop-tunes, filled with heavy grooves and uplifting lyrics. Konai Adelphe has a sound that speaks beyond its religious lyrics. Tunes like, “Boom,” and “Next Generation,” speak to the updated gospel sound the vocal quintet offers. Whereas tunes like “Come Home,” and “Always Put Your Trust in God,” offer more of a traditional gospel flavor. The ladies voices blend together nicely, invoking beautifully blended vocals that offer a sweetness when needed, while at other times a bold and edgy sound. EveryBody has something for everyone. There are plenty of gems in each tune and a bounty of positive affirmations.
