DOPICO is a musical artist that is not afraid to create highly evocative projects. Previously, DOPICO created and released music branded by her full name, Madeleine Dopico (still available on all major music platforms). DOPICO writes and creates all her music, filled with her immense vocal skills that transport catchy melodies with complex, yet relatable, lyrics. Based in NYC, she plays throughout the city with her live band, and records both in New York and Los Angeles. DOPICO can be heard singing on a Google Pixel Commercial. DOPICO is releasing her first single, “Murder,” from her upcoming self-titled album. Her re-brand marks a new sound, DOPICO is surrounding her soulful vocals with an electro-pop sound, while still retaining her signature genre fusion that became her moniker to her early sound. The result is captivating.  That’s the short of it!

Positives:

DOPICO has a full and buoyant voice, warm and round with power and projection. The songwriting is top-notch and the production is full. This is well-done electro-pop.

Bottom Line:

DOPICO states that, “I a writer of all kinds, and a lover of black coffee, good cheese, individuality, equality and empathy.” She is also CEO of a mental health tech startup while building her music career. Her drive and honesty come through in her music. “Murder” starts with a catchy vocal section that establishes the feel. The verse relaxes the feel and lets DOPICO’s big round voice be heard. Her articulation accents the syncopated parts of the melody that drive the melody forward. She also has a soulful approach to her melody embellishment with blue notes and glissandos into notes. The result is an emotional presentation of the melody that is easy to follow, understand and allows the listener to hear DOPICO’s passion. The song form is solid, with multiple feels and sections that keep everything exciting. DOPICO can create and based on the aforementioned love of black coffee and individuality, it is no surprise that her single “Murder” is full of energy and wonder and individualistic vocal power.
