Mac Hanson is all grown up and ready to do it his way. Calling his band Joshua & the Holy Rollers, the soulfully adorned Hanson, who I might add is the youngest sibling of the famed of pop trio (Hanson) is not the only brother (37-year-old Isaac, 35-year-old Taylor and 32-year-old Zac), with something to say. Originally not interested in a music career the 24-year-old is stepping forward with his own breakout sound on Tribulations. His calling is all rock-n-roll, with shades of soulful blues and well-penned tunes that will stir your bones. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Mac Hanson, the frontman for the group has a strong malleable voice, with a gravel and blues affection that is accessible and enjoyable.
Bottom Line:
Tribulations showcases a breadth beyond Hanson’s years on earth. The main ingredient is his memorable voice that has a soulful depth, paired with situational lyrics that define the memorability of the stories. Hanson has a quality of reminiscence, his voice is not a cop of another band’s sound, it’s the warm and inviting feeling of his voice that invites the listener to sit down with a good friend and listen and to come back again soon. Though he is from a famous family, Mac Hanson is certainly his own unique artist and should be listened to with fresh ears and an open mind. Hanson is his own man and Joshua & the Holy Rollers storm their own gates with a solid offering of solid performances and tunes.
