CKAY, Feel Good Review
New York based singer/songwriter, CKAY, released her debut single “Feel Good” on October 30th. The launching point for CKAY began after winning “Live at the Apollo” 3 times in a row. Which became a platform for CKAY to develop her own stylistic sound. The young vocalist exhibits extraordinary singing abilities and a signature, idiosyncratic personality, which ties into her persona well. Whether she’s channeling 90s alt-rock or classic divas, CKAY is an artist that bodes well in a recording, but you must also see her live to believe. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
CKAY has her own unique style that offers the listener a singular listen. Many times, when reviewing singers can at times have very similar styles of inflection or articulation. CKAY uniquely has her own singular voice, which overall will create lasting power for her as an artist.
Bottom Line:
CKAY has a bright future, her voice is uniquely her own. Many voices of today are born from the Fiona Apple camp, though CKAY lyrically has the angst vein in her music, it is her voice that stands on its own. The music has strong hooks and the melody is memorable long past the listen.
