Hailing from Birmingham, UK. Rosie Tee is a songwriter, composer and performer. Receiving her musical education from renowned composers Joe Cutler & Sean Clancy at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Best for her ground-breaking, atmospheric blend of electronic, jazz, classical and pop. Tee’s sound has been hailed as ‘transcendent’ and ‘genre-defying’, straddling the contrasting worlds of rising UK Jazz and contemporary classical. Over the course of 2018, Tee has collaborated closely with her quartet, which features a line-up of Tee (vocals glockenspiel, synth & keys), Tom Harris (synth & keys), Dan Cippico (bass), Kai Chareunsy (drums). Together in October, they recorded a live session of Tee’s debut single “Chambers,” at Abbey Road, accompanied by the string quartet RIOT.
Positives:
Tee has a unique way of melding jazz and classical with an ethereal pop styling that lends itself to an explorative sound.
Bottom Line:
Tee has created a uniquely genre defying third-stream sound. Infused with alternative pop sensibilities her quartet weaves through dream-like vocal lines with shifting paradigms of textural fancies. Her single “Chambers” aptly titled is a striking piece that challenges the norm and delights with aural delicacies. A UK tour will mark the release of the follow-up Chambers EP in 2019. That’s the short of it!
