Having journeyed through various musical styles over the years from rock to acoustic indie, Justin Hogg found his roots in the country music scene. Drawing on influences like Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes, his style is a blend of country, rock, and pop music with signature sound. Over 75 performances and two CCMA showcases in 2018, including proudly representing Alberta as part of the ACMA contingent in Hamilton, Hogg earned a coveted spot in the lineup at the 2018 ACMA “Fanfest” event held during the ACMA Awards weekend, building off of his 2017 nod from the Alberta Country Music Awards, for “Smoke Signals” for song of the year. Heading into what is already proving to be a busy 2019, Hogg is thrilled to release his brand new single “Just Drive.”
Positives:
A true driving tune, turn up the volume and let your cares float away. Hogg is full-throttle country and “Just Drive,” has him firmly in the driver seat.
Bottom Line:
For this new single (co-written by James Murdoch of The Dungarees), Hogg again partnered with Johnny Gasparic at the CCMA award-winning MCC Recording Studios in Calgary. Easy on the ears, Hogg has a voice that immediately connects with the listener. “Just Drive,” sports solid song-craft and a hook that will knock you out. “This is the kind of song I've wanted to record for a long time. I've written other driving songs, but this is the one that I decided I needed to release. I grew up in a small town, and on the weekends, there wasn't really anything for us to do, so when we were finally able to drive, we just drove around for hours and hours on the weekends. Didn't have anywhere to go, just drove and enjoyed the company of each other,” explains Hogg. “Just Drive,” will instantly light up your playlist, good natured and fast fun, this tune will drive it home for you. That’s the short of it!
