Veronneau is an acoustic ensemble that specializes in the world-jazz repertoire. The trio is populated by: French Canadian vocalist Lynn Véronneau, with guitarists Ken Avis and David Rosenblatt. Together they blend samba, French chanson, bossa nova and swing into a musical treat for their latest album, Love & Surrender. They present five original compositions, alongside classics by composers Jimmy Webb and Serge Gainsbourg. The trio is joined by guest musicians from Senegal, Nigeria, the UK and US, plus from Brazil their regular touring percussionist Bruno Lucini. With lyrics being sung in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish in musical setting that sways, swings, and grooves. As a world music or jazz lover, you can easily enjoy this album and that’s the short of it!

Positives:

Lovely singing with rich layered acoustic instruments providing a wonderful backdrop. The music pacing is perfectly balanced, with a nice variety of styles and originals and covers. The various guest artists give each track sonic variances and add to the obvious chemistry of the core trio sound.

Bottom Line:

Veronneau reflects the wonderful spirit and musical styles that our world has to offer us. The trio has a magic chemistry that is cornerstone to the success of Love & Surrender, add to that the spectacular playing of the special guests and this project IS something special. Wonderful singing in multiple languages and outstanding playing; Veronneau has something special to say on this one, and we should all listen in!
