Tribal Seeds is a US rock-reggae band that was formed by brothers Steven (lead vocals, guitar, and producer) and Tony Ray “Maad T-Ray” Jacobo (producer) in 2005. Tribal Seeds brand new EP, Roots Party, takes us on a party trip through eight tracks. It has been three and a half years since their last studio album Representing (2014). The new EP has a new, more evolved sound. Roots Party is mainly produced by Steven, except for “Gunsmoke” (T-Ray). The reset of the musicians on the EP includes: Victor Navarro (bass), Ryan Gonzo (guitar, vocals), Luis Castillo (keys, bass, guitar, vocals), Daniel Lopilato (keys), and Jamey “Zeb” Dekofsky (drums). The project is full of strong hooks and beats that will keep the festivities moving and that’s the short of it!
Positives:
This is reggae that sets the listener into the right vibe to feel musically uplifted. The dub effects and beats are a nice addition to the songs. The melodies are catchy, and the songs evolve in a way that entertain and leave you musically satisfied.
Bottom Line:
Tribal Seeds strikes a perfect balance between reggae beats and patterns and modern dance beats and sounds like dub. There is a strong blend of US-Jamaican influences in a combination of sounds and vibes. The vibe is generally easy-going, even roots sound, entirely positive, well-reflected on social issues, and well-recognizable by the distinctive voice of the singer Steven. The variety and clarity of Tribal Seeds music makes the EP a joy to listen to and have a Roots Party with!
