Georgel is building his reputation as a songwriter and vocalist that is restyling an innovative sound in Latin pop music. His love of music started in his formative years at the age of 12 when studying Bel-Canto with renowned Mezzo-Soprano Martha Felix.  At the age of 15, Georgel was awarded a full ride scholarship to Berklee College of Music where he focused in Songwriting and Performance. His years in Boston allowed him to collaborate and share the stage with highly talented fellow students such as Esperanza Spalding among others. At 22, he moved to Los Angeles. Since then he has enjoyed an incredibly successful songwriting career, writing for some of the biggest Latin stars such as Gloria Trevi. It wasn’t long until Music Mogul Sebastian Krys discovered him as an artist and started developing a new sound for Latin music’s future. “Meteorito” (read our review HERE) is the first single from his upcoming album project Rio, set to be released in 2019. Georgel is now releasing his second single from the album titled, “Colibrí.” Georgel worked with multi-Grammy producer Sebastian Krys on “Colibrí,” which features iconic musicians Korey Riker (The Roots / J. Legend), Jeff Babko (J.Taylor ), Lee Levin (B. Gibb) along with Georgel’s writing and vocals.

Positives:

Colibrí” brings the sound of funk and soul to support Georgel’s solid singing and lyric writing.

Bottom Line:

With elements of Latin rhythms combined with funk and soul, “Colibrí” narrates the sensual emotions about the love of his life ingeniously personified by this mythical bird. Georgel’s vocals are full and surrounded by hip horn parts and a classic funk styling. Rich female vocal harmonies provide color and punctuation. Georgel shows off his wide vocal range and his ability to growl his voice. The bridge has nice counterpoint between Georgel and the female backing singers. With ear catching melody, band hits and a slick horn arrangement, “Colibrí” has the energy and power to get the feet dancing. That’s the short of it!
