The Queens-based Thin Lear is the pet project of songwriter/producer Matt Longo.  In setting out on this adventure, he aimed to create pop songs that sparkle and punch and unfold with shimmer all their own. The project is primarily a one-man band, but with a collective of empathetic and incredibly talented musicians.  His first single “The Guesthouse” was an endearing offering that hit in February of 2019. Now he is back with his new single, “Death In A Field,” hitting April 4, 2019 in anticipation of his upcoming album Wooden Cave.

Positives:

Pulling influence from the worlds of Astral Weeks, Harry Nilsson and Shuggie Otis, Thin Lear melds the natural electricity of a live performance with the perfectionism of careful, deliberate production.

Bottom Line:

The second single from Thin Lear's upcoming Wooden Cave album, "Death In A Field" has a sense of nostalgia without a dated or unnatural essence. Filled with ethereal vocals that feature a sincerity of innocence and a vintage indie-rock feel, the sound is perfect for Thin Lear’s vibe. The track offers a dreamy, warm instrumentation which pairs well with his honest sound. The addition of pedal steel guitar for a solo adds to the earnest sound and satisfies with solid dexterity. That’s the short of it!
