A native of Austin, Texas, Kris Kelly moved to NYC at the age of 17 to study vocal performance and musical composition. After years of performing at storied New York venues, he packed a suitcase, grabbed his guitar and flew to South America. Traveling for five years through Argentina and Brazil, where he met his husband, inspired the core of Kelly’s album — pure love, loss, discovery, and growth. “Birthplace” by Kris Kelly, is the first single from his upcoming album Runaways to be released Summer 2019.

Positives:

Kelly’s blend of chamber pop, laced with folk sensibilities offers the listener an ethereal esthetic with his dreamy vocal style.

Bottom Line:

“Birthplace,” is a song Kelly wrote about the tension between attachment and freedom, and what it means to have that assured feeling of home." The track will release Friday, April 5th, along with a beautiful music video directed by Adi Halfin. The visuals of the video tie together the well-crafted lyrics by Kelly. His strong song-writing and hauntingly beautiful vocals are delicate yet passionately effective. He conveys a sense of angst and yearning as each note drips like honey from his lips, speaking a lyrical truth. “Birthplace,” is a strong signal to his impending album Runaways. That’s the short of it!
