Can Skeletons rock?  Well apparently, the Matchstick Skeletons can. Rising from the grave, they are coming out with a dropkick bone crushing sound. Described by the leasers as a “James Brown/Lemmy love child nobody asked for,” the project was formed by singer/multi-instrumentalist Neu Mannas and drummer Matty Carole.  The two met in another group Head of the Herd. After extensive touring in England, Wales, and the southeastern US, the Canadian’s decided to turn to their own ideas and form the Matchstick Skeletons. The ensembles debut single is titled “Told Ya So.” Will put the shiver in your sting.  That’s the short of It!

Positives:

Crunchy guitars, pounding drums and rock-steady attitude the fire is lit and the Matchstick Skeletons are ready to pulverize.

Bottom Line:

The band has a great chemistry and vibe. A unique group that serves up a gritty sound that stings with groove. Inspired by old funk records. The single comes with a companion video. Mannas has a Bowie type look to his persona, and certainly the two have created a vintage Tarantino idiosyncrasy in their approach to video production. “Told Ya So,” gets into the marrow, and pulls out some solid calcification of rock. Well worth the listen.
