Positives:

“Emerald City” has a strong melodic flow through a and interesting forms.

Bottom Line:

Set to a relaxed rock beat “Emerald City” presents Samuel’s melody with a rich sounding distorted guitar sound that is crunchy, but still maintains its clarity of pitch. The tune has a nice variety of quiet sections and more aggressive sections. The melody also plays with tension and release in a very musical manner. The sounds do bring to mind a wonderful mix of rock and blues. Each of Samuel’s songs from his new album is based on inspiration that the area brought to him and how each surrounding area of Seattle would bring about its own set of emotions and feelings. With soaring melodies and a touch of the Pacific Northwest’s ambient energy, The Sound of Seattle will relax, heal and entertain and that’s the short of it!
