Mouth Of Ghosts is an up and coming band from London. With a sound that is full of textures, moody riffs and rugged beats the band propels for the vocals to soar over. Mouth Of Ghosts releases their debut EP, When The Sun Sets in September of 2012. The title track (mixed by Ali Staton (Tricky, PJ Harvey, Lamb) was played across many regional BBC Radio stations and was on the BBC Introducing Mixtape list of the best new music in 2012. The band’s second EP, You Will Go Again From Me, was released in June 2013. The track, “You Will Go” from that EP was played on BBC Radio 6 Introducing and “Wrong” was played on national radio, both in the UK and overseas. Simon Langford (guitar) and Marco Italia (bass) are the founding members of the band. Now, almost six years later, the band is gearing up to release new material on the Shunu Records label titled, Mouth of Ghosts.  The self-titled full-length album will contain ten original songs with Mouth Of Ghosts own unique spin on the alternative rock sound with attitude. The album is mixed and mastered by Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, Jamie Lenman).

Positives:

Solid female fronted rock band with big guitars, subtle elements of electronica and a growling rhythm section.

Bottom Line:

The ten tracks on Mouth of Ghosts delivery a wide range in sonic textures, tempos and feels. The music exposes exotic scales and dark hues as vocals change from sweet and vulnerable to aggressive and scoring to match the mood of each selection. The musicianship is all top-shelf, as is the songwriting. The bands harmonies are very nice, with two males and two female harmonies being able to add a fresh texture. Langford’s guitar playing is solid throughout. There are some outstanding duet and counterpoint moments between the various vocalist. Again, making this alum have an allure that is something special. This is a band that you are going to hear about and is certainly one to watch. That’s the short of it!
