It’s been two years since the release of David Vaters impressive double debut albums A Voice in the Wilderness Volume 1 & 2.  Vaters is set to release Voice in the Wilderness Volume 3 in early 2020.  Until that time fans can enjoy “RED SEA,” a decisive continuation of the vision that Vaters created on his first two records.  On the new album Vaters collaborated with Andre Wahl as co-Producer & Engineer to help create a solely inimitable styling, which is touted to range from “fearlessly improvisational to the tender; the abrasive to the understated,” says Vaters.

Positives:

“Red Sea,” has a crossover sensuality, fusing Country, Americana & Southern Country Rock; Vater has united his unique sound.

Bottom Line:

On “Red Sea,” Vaters has purposefully created a crossover of sound to appeal to both traditional country fans, and newer country fans that lean towards a slightly heavier rockish sound. Vaters has an imbued vision for the new album, he explains “The most important thing for me while putting this record together was the idea of playing on the strengths of the first two records without completely abandoning the sound we developed with Dave Vest, Scott Faris and Nashville’s own Grammy and Dove award winner Tom Hemby.” One resounding reminiscence of Vaters voice is he phrases in an ala Tom Petty way, that lends itself to that organic connection of music and lyrics that worked so well for Petty’s career too. That’s the short of it!
