Damsel and Distress is a Nashville based group that formed in August of 2017. After securing an opening slot for prolific guitarist and singer-songwriter Zane Carney in the Fall of 2018, the band met producer Trinidad Sanchez III and immediately began forging the sound present in their upcoming release set for 2019. With no plans of slowing down, this female-fronted force aims to be a heavy presence in 2019. With the release of their first single “Not Your Type,” this gritty group lead by Alisha Lynn’s distinctive voice is poised to hit the ground running.

Positives:

Lynn is a passionate vocalist, emotionally charged with a rock voice that can both be heard and felt, with her alluring rock timbre and soulful gritty sound.

Bottom Line:

Damsel and Distress garners their sound from live performances, their irresistible rock/soul sound draws from their voracious drive to create music. Influenced by the likes of Joan Jett and Stevie Nicks, you can hear the fierceness in Lynn’s voice (Joan Jett) and the polish of her execution (Stevie Nicks). Tied together tightly with Chris ear-hooking harmonies, the two seduce and enthrall. Their single “Not Your Type,” is an anthemic tune to the ego centric male that is on a trip that every girl wants some. Lynn ties that up neatly in the “NO” bow and gifts it. That’s the short of it!
