Born Lion has had a stunning career thus far, Their debut album Final Words was a part of a multi-album deal with Four/Four, three singles scoring rotation on Triple J (“D for Danger”, “Good Times Jimmy,” “Good Dogs Play Dead”), a plethora of hard rock dream support slots (The Hives, The Bronx, Royal Blood, Mamozets, Karnivool) and an ARIA nomination for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album in 2015. In 2018 another successful album Celebrate the Lie, released in February of 2018. The band headed to Adelaide to work with Jimmy Baldertsone (Luca Brasi, High Tension and Grenadiers). Working around the clock for two-weeks straight, the team crafted a high-energy album, focusing on lean songwriting coupled with sonic experimentation. Born Lion is releasing a new single called, “Bigger Than Jesus.”
Positives:
Smartly crafted lyrics, razor sharp guitar hooks, and heavy hitting drums; all merge to deliver a pocket for the powerful vocal attack.
Bottom Line:
Mosh-pit worthy rhythms and a punktastic melody, the infectious dual guitar driven progression offer a commanding listen. Driving guitars with solid vocals that have attitude. "Bigger Than Jesus" has a song-form that has various feels, riffage, a catchy melody and lyrics that grab the ear. Born Lion has a pinch of yesteryear punch, with a healthy does of rock and punk sensibilities, all amalgamated with a pulsating fuzzed up, riffed out veneration that works. That’s the short of it!
