Coming from Savona, Italy, there is a four-piece rock band that is mixing ’70s heavy fuzz and ’90s riffage to concoct a sonic potion that’s both powerful and refreshingly current. The band is Black Elephant and their latest full-length album, Cosmic Blues is a marvelous set of seven tracks of psychedelic fuzz rock. The band is Caravelli Alessio (vocals and guitar), Giacosa Massimiliano (guitar), De Stefanis Marcello, (bass) and Brunzu Simone (drums). Cosmic Blues was recorded and mixed by Giulio Farinelli, mastered by Maurizio Giannotti, and comes wrapped in the cover design of Robin Gnista. This is a first-rate album with great solos, a consistent flow throughout the entire album and psychedelic rock that gets you in the right frame of mind from the first fuzzy note. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Black Elephant is not afraid to take their time and develop a feel, building riffs and the grooves of the song until it builds to a musical statement. Great playing by all with very nice guitar work.
Bottom Line:
Black Elephant combines the psychedelic riffage of the '70s with the power of modern metal and plenty of fiery guitar playing to create an excellent listen with Cosmic Blues. The chemistry between the band members allow them to create an atmosphere that represents a cohesive sound that rocks. They have attitude, great riffs, good feels, and catchy melodies. What more do you need? Everyone needs to let loose some killin’ psychedelic rock and Black Elephant will get you there!
