Arcaydium is a band from Montreal, Canada that mixes Psychedelic Rock and Reggae with elements of Pop, Funk and a whole lot of attitude. The band is: Chris Petterson (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Corrado Johnston (bass, bass pedals), and Rodrigo Ramos (drums, percussion). The band has a unique sound that takes their influences: Sticky Fingers, Pink Floyd, Sublime, Kings of Leon, The Beatles, Ocean Alley, Rush, Genesis, The Who, and Coldplay and mixes it up with a style that is fresh and tinged with reggae. Arcaydium is releasing their debut EP titled, Arcaydium. The self-titled release contains four tracks which feature mystical and poetic lyrics, multifaceted instrumentation, catchy melodies and memorable hooks. The band is solid and Petterson’s voice fits the tone and style of the band perfectly as he carries the front-line with confidence and energy. Arcaydium speaks with tones of classic rock, but also elements of today’s sound, as they unfold their unique style of rock that is straight from the heart.

Positives:

Arcaydium have compiled a solid set of four tunes that are well-constructed and have a nice twist on rock. Fans of: Sticky Fingers, The Police, Kings of Leon, Ocean Alley, Sublime, and Pink Floyd will certainly want to take note of Arcaydium.

Bottom Line:

Arcaydium is a power trio that creates a big sound. The songs are written with plenty of varying styles and feels that keep the listener’s interest. Petterson’s vocal style is energetic and his phrasing and embellishments have a blues and soul overtone that is very emotive. Petterson also plays a mean guitar and keyboards to a solid set of grooves from Johnston and Ramos rhythm section. Arcaydium is a band with splendid interplay with one another, giving them the ability to convey themes and feels in a wide range of styles in a convincing musical manner. Acraydium’s debut is fiery, heartfelt vocals, exciting guitar hooks and solos, reggae-inspired beats, and a rock-solid rhythm section. That’s the short of it!
