Algorhythm is a band based in Montreal, Canada that imaginatively blend influences of rock, jazz, funk, psychedelic elements, elements of fire, water, wind, and the element of surprise. The members of the progressive rock/jazz fusion band are: Alexander Lioubimenko – keyboard and vocals, Hugo Leclerc – tenor saxophone and clarinet/bass clarinet/flute, Ilya Pechersky – guitar, Marc Scott – bass and Greg Kustka-Tsimbidis – drums. Algorhythm’s first single, “Why Now” is a high energy composition that defines genres. The music displays the heart and soul that Algorhythm puts into their craft, they certainly take their music very seriously and hone their skills. Algorhythm is now releasing their second single title, “Heat Of The Moment.”
Positives:
All accomplished musicians, the music is a wonderful blend of sophistication and musicality.
Bottom Line:
"Heat Of The Moment" starts with some solo bass clarinet fun from Leclerc. In fact the solo last for well over a minute and has elements of jazz and funk. A hip riff allows the band to enter to get the tune started. This band has some mad skills, the form is creative and has exiting metric modulations and lots of ear candy for your ears to savor. Their improvised solos, well-played ensemble passages and a strong vocal presence from Lioubimenko takes the track to creative heights. The grooves are infectious, the musicianship is high, and the audio mix is solid, so you can hear it all clearly. If you're a fusion fan, this is for you...that’s the short of it!
