Connect with: Donut Records | Kimbo Nice | Alexander Sun
Donut Records is a Bristol, UK based independent record label whose aim is to release artists and music from around the UK, that they believe in and feel deserve wider recognition. The label is not bound by genres or trends, their yard stick is real talent and quite simply, music that gets them off. The label is releasing a two-artist project comprised of ALEXANDER SUN and KIMBO NICE. The album is called, Demo and is available on limited edition cassette and digitally. Each band contributes three tracks on the album. Alexander Sun is described as: dreamy guitars, haunting vocals, toe-tappin beats and catchy choruses drenched in melancholy then dipped in glitter! Kimbo Nice is described as: the darlings of the Bristol music scene. Coming with a banquet of groovy sunshine pop, honest lyrics, and those fresh bass lines; hearts will melt so keep a cold beer in hand. The result is that good sounds are arriving from Bristol for all hungry music lovers. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Both bands display a creative alternative rock songwriting style that is just enough outside the box to make you listen, but still exceedingly musical and fun.
Bottom Line:
The power of the internet and the world becoming flat, especially in the music industry, allows music lovers to help introduce more of us to great music we would never have heard without their commitment and dedication. The pairing of the two bands creates a unique listen, they are similar in their ability to convey a strong melody with thoughtful lyrics. Alexander Sun has a unique perspective with Alex Ensoll and Eloïse Colliou lending male/female singing and excellent guitar work by Ensoll and Jake Wareham. Kimbo Nice also sports two vocalists, both male, that color their creative melodies. Both groups have a groovy sound and a hypnotic vibe.
