The Sweet Kill is a band lead by lead singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Pete Mills. Prior to The Sweet Kill, Pete was a member of the infamous Canadian Glam band, Flash Bastard who went from rags to riches after signing with Nikki Sixx’s label. Gaining notoriety by getting thrown off the Motley Crue tour mid-way through, Pete ran the music industry’s gauntlet within the major record label vortex. Ultimately moving to Los Angeles Pete co–produced Soulkid1’s smash hit song “We Got More Bounce in California” with Michael Patterson (She Wants Revenge). This single’s notoriety captured the attention of local labels which transitioned Pete into a producing role working with a myriad of artists including Sheryl Crow, Moving Units, Teddy Riley to name a few.  On his latest single “Give It Up,” Feat. Lolita, Pete assembled a powerhouse production team including mixer Dave “Rave” Ogilvie (Marilyn Manson), co-producer Voli (Bebe Rexha) and drummer Darren King (Mutemath).

Positives:

Filled with angst and inexorable grooves, Mills and Lolita hit the right notes on this duet. Both vocalists are equally paired and deliver rousing performances.

Bottom Line:

“Give it Up,” is a personal song for Mills, he describes the background behind the song. “I used to love alcohol, but it didn’t love me back, I used to love “her” but she did me wrong, I used to love money and attention but I was broken. Until I identified and “gave up” all that didn’t work I had no hope and remained stuck. Developing this new relationship with love I became free of the worldly pressures and others opinions and more attuned with the universe residing within.” Mills newfound center reflects in his music. “Give It Up,” is a seasoned well-honed tune that is relatable and memorable. Grounded by Mills vocal prowess, the listener feels Mills journey of alienation to self-discovery. That’s the short of it!
