Singer and songwriter Steve Benjamins was bitten by the songwriting bug at the early age of ten, and since then Benjamins’ songwriting continues to evolve. Releasing his first recordings to the public at age twenty-six, Benjamins is firm in his vision and has developed a clear path for his sound.  In taking sixteen years to hone it before sharing it, Benjamins offers a polished performance. In the past five years his musical output has been prolific, with four EPs and nine singles. “Circles” being his latest. The single features Benjamins’ warm clear voice conveying his thoughtful lyrics with a rich melody. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Benjamins has control over the range of his voice. The lyric video (see above) is set to beautiful artwork by Sarah Bedley.

Bottom Line:

Steve Benjamins is a singer/songwriter that embraces subtitles to develop his music and touch our emotions. His single “Circles” starts with a mellow keyboard figure and drum pattern. Benjamins voice enters with control and a distinctive tone. The melody flows through the form, displaying Benjamins wide vocal range. “Circles” builds with nuance over time, with varying keyboard parts, quick synth pads and swells and drum patterns. The ending is a nice cadence that builds. Benjamins lyrics are thoughtful and offer a settled beauty that sooths, while offering thought provoking sincerities.
