Snails and Boogie T, Redline Review

Frédérik Durand is a musical artist that defies musical boundaries, he has created a signature sound and is known for his collaborative adventurism. If you are among the army of basshead fans, you will know whom I am talking about, he is better known by his DJ/producer alias Snails. The King of “Vomitstep” has a new single out and he is teaming up with Boogie T to experiment with an extra-heavy, instrumental-driven sound on the track called “Redline.” The tune is a new direction for Snails being an upbeat dancefloor ready track. Added vocal and electric guitar playing by Boogie T to Snails’ reverberating bassline and massive drop, all framed by cutting synths and you have something special. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Boogie T has a strong delivery of vocals and guitar playing. We need more tunes that feature guitarist riffing over well produced beats that can let us hit the dancefloor. Like “Redline” does.

Bottom Line:

The ever-evolving sounds Frédérik Durand, better known as Snails, is always full of surprises. His collaborations and music continue to expand, as does his label, Slugz Music. The success in his alliances hold true in his ability to stand firm in his signature sound, while still creating space for his collaborator. In this case, Boogie T. "Redline" offers multilayered vocals that are in a call and response with his electric guitar. Snails signature synths and sounds take over and build. There is development of a central theme throughout the form, which keeps things flowing and relatable. The bridge has solid guitar lines from Boogie. Snails continues to expand his musical vernacular, this will probably be something that get a clear thumbs up or thumbs down reaction, depending on when the fan came into his soundscape. I say thumbs up. It is always nice to see an artist push their own boundaries.
