RIVAH, Flood Review
Connect with RIVAH: Facebook
RIVAH is a Brisbane, Australia based vocalist that is finding herself and her voice through music. Her voice pulls comparisons to the likes of MØ and SZA. RIVAH’s debut single “Untame” caught the ear of the music industry with her commanding voice and crafty lyrics. RIVAH is now releasing a single, “Flood,” an electro-pop styling, flowing with RIVAH’s strong vocal skills. The song is a bittersweet anthem that reflects on a time of feeling extreme loneliness, but with a twist as RIVAH flips the theme to an outside perspective with her unique lyric style. Wrote in New Zealand with Sam de Jong, the production is full, and the song form is dense. With her debut EP just around the corner, featuring noted producers Pip Norman (Jarryd James), Eric J (Chet Faker, Flume), JP Fung (Client Liaison) and Jesse Porches (Super Cruel), “Flood” is proving to be an ambitious pre-cursor to the full EP. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Catchy melodies and a solid dance beat, all presented with RIVAH's beautiful singing.
Bottom Line:
RIVAH is hitting the pop scene with another brilliant single, “Flood.” Surrounded by full electro-pop production, RIVAH builds her story of love. RIVAH explains, “Ultimately “Flood” is about me. And for every other person who’s felt alone in their life. It’s about remembering that you are loved and that you have to let love in.” With a strong medium tempo dance beat, RIVAH sings the catchy melody through a solid song form. Full vocal backgrounds float in and out for an added effect. There is an enjoyable vocal counterpoint that keeps the track flowing and the bridge offers a nice feel change, with a dreamy breakdown that builds to the chorus. RIVAH has certainly created a cornerstone sound. Her voice resonates with agile abilities, that she puts to good use on “Flood.” With her EP looming in the near future, “Flood,” firmly sets her in a breakout momentum.
