Picture This is an Irish alternative band comprised of Ryan Hennessy (guitar/vocals), Jimmy Rainsford (drums), Owen Cardiff (guitar), and Cliff Deane (bass). Picture This was the biggest selling Irish act in both 2017 and 2018, and the nation’s hottest musical export in decades. Known for their strong melodies and catchy choruses, Picture This enjoyed much success with their self-titled 2017 full-length debut, Picture This. The album went certified triple-platinum in Ireland and maintained the #1 spot overall in the country for four weeks, while topping the Streaming Chart for seven weeks. Picture This  has remained in the Top 5 since its release. The band has sold over 300K tickets, concluding 2017 with a sold-out UK and Ireland tour highlighted by gigs at O2 Shepherd’s Bush London, SSE Arena Belfast, and a two-night stand at 3Arena in Dublin. The summer of 2018 marked their first stadium tour in Ireland, which capped off with a 35,000-person stadium show selling out over 3 months prior. During late 2018, they teamed up with super producer Jayson Dezuzio to record the 2019 follow-up, MDRN LV. The album has twelve tracks that have a variety of styles, plenty of catchy melodies and full productions.

Positives:

The band has a polished sound that appeals to a wide audience. Hennessy vocals are strong, with clear diction and carries the energy of the band very well.

Bottom Line:

The Irish sensation Picture This is set to bring their solid sound to a wider audience with MDRN LV. The relaxed energy of “If You Wanna Be Loved” lets Hennessy’s strong vocals be heard as the band builds the track to an enjoyable pop/rock song that has a catchy chorus. With over tones of R&B “One Drink” has a hip clean rhythmic guitar figure that entwines between big phat bass sounds and a steady drum beat. Again, Hennessy carries the tune well with vocal presence and conveys the emotions of the lyrics. The song also has nice vocal counterpoint to keep things interesting. “Everything Or Nothing” is a keyboard driven track with big drums and a building chorus. Picture This is a balance of pop and rock, giving a broad spectrum for listeners to enjoy and sing along with. Solid lyrics, good beats, and a range of serious and relaxed music makes MDRN LV a solid album. That's the short of it!
