Lou Ella is a pop singer, song writer and producer based in California. Ella has been writing since her teens and merging the styles and influences of her mixed North African and European heritage. That rich soundscape of cross-cultures has amalgamated into a laidback pop and soul sound that is now Ella’s trade mark sound. She has been performing around Los Angeles, growing a strong fanbase and prepping for future festivals. Ella is preparing to release her debut EP in 2019. She is now releasing the first single from the EP titled, “Summer of Love.”
Positives:
Ella has a warm voice and a soulful delivery that demands attention. Combine that with solid songwriting and you have something special here.
Bottom Line:
“Summer of Love” finds Ella singing her soulful melody to only piano for the beginning section of the tune. The beat comes in and the pop feel is developed. The background vocals add punctuation and support. “Summer of Love” is about a lost love and explores, in a sensory way, the memories of those small moments that define summer flings. The tune has an enjoyable flow, the lyrics are entertaining and the melody catchy. Ella’s cross-culture influence can be heard in the rhythmic structure of the tune, with hip syncopations that will bring to mind North African styles. Her singing is sensual, exudes confidence and commands a solid musical presence. “Summer of Love” is just in time to bring in the spring and summer flings to come for 2019. That’s the short of it!
