Certainly, the 80s brought a turning point in the music industry when Boy George splashed onto the scene with Culture Club. His illuminated vocals and stylish dressings captured listeners hearts and they were instantly taken with him. Enter Jaime Hannah, a 22-year-old British singer-songwriter, with expansive vocal capabilities, honed at the Royal College of Music, where he trained in opera. Hannah has been busy working with Boy George on several songs and is now releasing his new single “House of Truth.” The song has been hailed as a ‘summer smash’ by Boy George, when speaking to the crowd at his sold-out Culture Club show at Wembley Arena about Jamie.
Positives:
With his David Bowie like Androgynous good looks, Hannah is not just a pretty face, he like Boy George has the dulcimer voice to move mountains.
Bottom Line:
Boy George and Hannah equally share vocal duties. George takes on the first round of melody, while Hannah embellishes with his pristine soprano flavorings, then taking on the reprise with a deeper improvisational styling of the chorus. “House of Truth,” offers and infectious melody with gospel stylings, engaging Hannah’s 4-octave spanning vocals. Certainly, Hannah is in the capable hands of George as a protégé. Hannah explains “I am very lucky to have Boy George as a mentor. The whole process of making and recording the song and video with such an icon has been very surreal.” Equivalent adoration beams from Boy George as he exclaims “Jamie is a Natural!” That’s the short of it!
