Eli Teplin is a classically trained pianist, guitarist, songwriter and pop vocalist. Teplin began his music career performing in Nashville, but his music caught the ear of the great Quincy Jones, who promptly relocated him to Los Angeles and signed him to his international roster of musicians. This also resulted in Teplin joining BMG’s chart-topping songwriters roster. Teplin is currently writing with numerous artists and collaborating with composer Tobias Jesso Jr. (Niall Horan, Adele, Sia, John Legend). Teplin is focusing on his own music and is now releasing his single, “Writing On The Wall.” Teplin’s own style of pop music places emphasis on classical foundations with outstanding technique and understanding of orchestration and song forms, his tunes offer memorable melodies with pop overtones. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Beautifully recorded and produced, Teplin takes us on an adventure in instrument colors, feel and broad melodies filled with positive lyrics and strong singing.
Bottom Line:
Eli Teplin is combining his classical training with pop sensibilities on his wonderful single, “Writing On The Wall.” Teplin’s vocal range is impressive and even more impressive is his fluidity and color throughout his range. Back by an outstanding band and orchestra, Teplin spins out melodies, utilizing a diverse form that pulls from classical techniques to build the songs arc over time. Teplin says, “The song is both a meditation and a cry for help. It’s a song about holding onto belief in the face of uncertainty - the kind where you know exactly where you want to go, but don’t yet know how you’ll get there. It speaks to our own internal struggles of belonging, purpose, and self-belief, and at its core, clings to the hope that things will work out as they should.” With so much natural talent abounding and superb performances by all, “Writing on the Wall,” is suitably titled about Teplin’s bright future.
