ECHLO, Echolocation Review

ECHLO is the deeply creative Chloe Charles. A Trini-Canadian her tenacity and complete focus of career is one the foundations upon which Echolocation is built. The single “Beautifully Cruel,” is representative of the artists complete indoctrination of artistry. ECHLO explains; “Beautifully Cruel” is about what I’ve sacrificed to be an artist. I’ve sacrificed love and a normal healthy relationship. Basically, I’ve always put my art first. Art had been my soulmate and it seems nobody had been able to stand up to it. However, it’s a bitter love because I have always wanted to find love but at some point I gave up and figured I’m destined to be alone with my music because I’m just a crazy artist that doesn’t understand how to be in a relationship.” That’s the short of it!
Positives:
ECHLO has a buoyancy in her voice that she uses to elaborate the full spectrum of emotion. At times raw, while others fragile and vulnerable. Each track offers a different textural vocal approach, but one reigning connective tissue is the how ECHLO digs deep in to the marrow of the lyrics.
Bottom Line:
Echolocation is a coming of age within one psyche. ECHLO’s music is filled with pain, and angst, strength and bravery. Hers is a journey of self-discovery and freedom of constraints. Her songs reflect her experimentation with polyamory, the inability to commit to one love, the rejection felt by society and the propaganda of modern media. Echolocation offers a deeply felt experience, that upon each listen will reveal a deeper message. One possibly of reflection. ECHLO explains; “You’ll repeat yourself until you’re heard. Repeating yourself over and over until all that is left is the purest form of yourself. An echo leaves behind the voices in the background, your inner critic judgements and only carries the loudest parts of you."
