Bleu Stroud started playing guitar and wrote her first song at the age of eight. As a shy and introverted child who was often bullied for being quiet, Bleu found both solace and her voice in songwriting. Music as a creative and emotional outlet became an integral part of Bleu’s life. As Bleu grew into her teen years, her writing evolved with personal narratives focused on love, pain, trusting one’s self, enduring hope and acceptance — universally relatable themes. The now 18 -year old Bleu Stroud’s music reflects the distinctively laid-back, LA-centric singer-songwriter vibe of her hometown. Evoking comparisons to Jewel and Joni Mitchell, Bleu is a gifted songwriter with a silky, melodic voice. With no formal training, the multi-instrumentalist also plays guitar, 12 string guitar, ukulele, banjo and piano. With the help of Producer Mark Dutton, Bleu is recording her debut full-length album (due out early 2019) that will feature 10 original songs all written and performed by Bleu. Until then listeners can enjoy “Trainwreck,” Stroud’s latest single.
Positives:
Stroud has a mature and balanced voice that resonates like a freight train.
Bottom Line:
Stroud has a modern folk/pop sound with an easy-going style and catchy approach with her melodies and lyrics. Sprinkled with singer-songwriter sensibilities with a more alternative folk centric sound. “Trainwreck,” displays so much maturity for a senior in high school, one would think she is well beyond the tender years of 18. Her voice is resolute and warming, she has a convincing and organic delivery that lends to the song’s strengths. Far from a train wreck,Blue Stroud is well on her way to making name for herself and the songs she pens. That’s the short of it!
