Saxophonist, flutist Dan Moretti has been afforded a 30-year career of international awards and recognition.  Also, a composer and producer his broad pallet of styles has afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with musicians across cultures of Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, Israel and Turkey.  Moretti has seventeen original recordings in his discography, each as eclectic and trendsetting as they come. His latest offering Invoke was released in April 2018 on the Dodicilune Label. That’s the short of It!

Positives:

Moretti no matter the setting offers a robust sound that illuminates the compositions. The addition of live strings to five of the tunes offers a profound awakening of the compositions. Though the album (intentionally) is more melodic in nature with shorter solos, the amount of beauty created within each track is consummate.

Bottom Line:

Invoke kindles twelve original compositions that offer a profound spirituality in music. Supported by Mark Shilansky (piano), Jesse Williams (bass), Steve Langone (drums), Bengisu Gokce (violin), Dan Lay (viola) and Marta Roma (cello), the album offers superlative performances that will invoke a sense of calming and reprieve from the anxiety of today’s modern world. Once again Moretti has created a sound that is expansive and offers depth of spatial reflection.
