The Nursery, Reworked (Remixed) Review
Connect with The Nursery: Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
The Nursery is a three-piece alt-rock band based in Toronto, Canada. The band is: lead singer and songwriter Alex Pulec, synth player Victor Ess and drummer Josh English. The band has sound that is based on strong songwriting that combines youth’s darker themes of death, sex, anxiety and fear with ethereal and technicolored alt-rock music. The three-piece met at a recording session in a converted monastery in Buffalo, New York. The Nursey has released a three song EP titled Reworked (Remixed) that highlights three songs that are remixed by three different producers. Keys did a remix of “Timeless Eye,” Kristian Noel Pedersen remixed “Human Race” and Parallels did “She Speaks the Wave.” The remixes build on the pop-influenced hooks and melodies, with lush and driving backdrops. The band creates a sound that is current and fresh. That’ the short of it!
Positives:
All three tracks offer penetrating sound, that will transport The Nursey into a modern electro world. Solid throughout, my favorite was, “She Speaks the Wave.”
Bottom Line:
The Nursery has an edgy alt-rock sound that is energetic. Their undercurrent is transformed into three solid remixes on Reworked (Remixed). With keyboards, samples, synth and programing Keys, Kristian Noel Pedersen and Parallels bring a fresh sound to the table. Samples repeat to form rhythmic patterns as synths build and sounds float in and out. The melodies of each track are very recognizable, and the beats are all creative. Electronic drum patterns keep the pulse moving and each track has moment of synth solos and colors that are completely original and give the undeniable stamp of an electro artist. Solid performances, with originality. The Nursery is focuses and on point with Reworked (Remixed).
